      Thinking about a 1969 Evinrude Mate for sale near me. Question is, do these use universal mag components? Coil, points, condensor? Anything tricky about them?

        They use universal ignition components – just one coil, set of points, and condenser. Fun little motors…. but of course, no recoil starter. i had one and sold it since my 3 HP fit my needs in the small category better.

          They got recoil starters beginning in 1971

            The tricky thing about the 1.5 and 2hp is finding one with good compression.
