First super pumped for the help. I just bought a 1958 MFG with a 35 HP Johnson Sea Horse on it. Is this a 6V or 12 V motor. Can I/ow do I convert it to a single fuel line motor.
I am sure I will have more questions but this will get me started
Thanks,
Tim-

July 13, 2019 at 9:35 pm #178816Not a 58. Not a 59, but a 12 volt 1957 RDElectric! And it has the hard to find boat side wiring harness with the electric box inside the boat. Nice find!

you can print important sections (pages) into a PDF file for future needs
http://www.boatinfo.no/lib/johnson/manuals/1922-1964johnson.html
the motor may likely need new coils if originals are still in and cracked same for impeller …no big deal to fix up points… carb kit maybe needed float may be shot and dried
this should be a fun project …don’t despair lots of help here
nice find ! check compression before spending more money on it ..just in case
btw OEM BRP coils costs are expensive but I have had great success with chineese coils (check EBAY OMC coils …some are free shipping to ! )
spark plug wires may need replacement using 7mm solid/strand metal wire (no carbon wires !) if you do coils do wires at the same time
print all pages of the parts listing to PDF or paper for future needs

July 18, 2019 at 1:07 pm #179128Thanks. Marine engine had everything I needed except the cowl seal. Seems no one has it. Could I use one from another engine or larger engine and cut it down?
