picked up this boat and motor combo today. looks like a lot of power for this little homemade boat. the po built it from a popular mechanics magazine in the late 60s. it boasted that it could be done for $100 in a weekend. he didn’t quite agree. his sons had years of fun with it until they discovered girls he said. 😆
the gear case apparently cracked a few years back so he had to replace the case. he recently put in new coils and points from oldmercs.com but said he couldn’t get it to start. hopefully it won’t be too big a challenge. I love the color scheme. AND the waffle plate making it a 1955!
well, my 12 year old twins saw the boat and now they want to try to give it a spin. we’ll see if it floats when this weather warms up. might be a fun little boat. i’ll probably start them off with a much smaller hp motor.
