1957 Johnson 7.5 is running.I done like you said Boathouse..I put fuel tank higher to gravity feed and it ran…I changed the hose connector out ,and it solved the problem…I don’t have a gage to check compresion..but the compression is real strong..It runs great now..I want to thank everyone of you all for the valuable information an all your time ..I checked everything everyone mentioned. And I have learned from you all.Thankyou Boathouse, russ Lloyd, Crosbyman and everyone at AOMCI…this motor is pumping water strong but I will take it down an change impeller to be sure it’s not dried out..and the coils look good..They have been changed sometime another..It needed the points an condensers though..Thankyou each an everyone of you.I was almost ready to give up on a good looking motor till you all helped.

Happy ending   great    thanks for feedback.  Keep it oiled up  good    I used 1L/25L   TWC3  on oldies  but  1/16 is the the recommeded ratio if I am not wrong . more is betterfor theengine…and bugs

Yes, 16:1 is the original oil mixing recommendation for this engine.  Ignore all the hype, even some bad info from OMC in later years, about mixing 24:1 on this engine.  This engine has “plain rod bearings”, no roller/needle bearings.  Run it light on oil and a rod usually finds its way out of the powerhead!
