Use the 3M847. The replacement for sealer 1000 and Type M adhesives.

I wish Seal-all had a pointed tip. It would make applying it a lot easier and a lot less messy.

I’ve used 3M 847 on different motors for hood weather stripping, never had any problems, worked great.

Great suggestions, permanent would be 5200. If it works on transoms indefinitely, itโ€™ll work on a cowel gasket and wont come apart until you decide.

So some updates. I contacted 3M and they said that the 08008 (black) and 08001 (yellow) are the same and that they only differ in color. I ended up getting the yellow just because it was different… I also realized that the tube of black I had was likely at least 10 years old. Sure enough, I tried the new tube and it’s a much stronger bond. Will see how it holds up over the next year, but I think having a fresh tube was the ticket.

I had to get a new tube 7 years ago. The stuff I had labeled "Marprox Sealer 1000" wouldn’t come out of the tube . . . ๐Ÿ˜†
