Flathead,
If I can find the number on the knee brace, I will email Alumacraft for the specs. I thought they would probably be able to tell me if I contacted them with the number, but so far I have not found it. No capacity tag anywhere that I can find either. I have not seen any markings on the knee brace. Is it stamped on the side? I see no numbers on top.

June 14, 2016 at 12:41 pm #38260I’ve not seen an Alumacraft yet without a stamping on it’s transom brace.
I bet it’s there and on the side facing up.
June 14, 2016 at 1:47 pm #38266June 14, 2016 at 2:10 pm #38267It should be found stamped into that lower brace. It may be hidden by the aquaduct in the photo. Look close, you are getting warmer.
June 14, 2016 at 2:33 pm #38268Thanks VinTin. I’ll have a closer look under there after work tonight. My registraion doesn’t even list a HIN for this boat. 😕 I’d like to get the proper info on it when I get it transferred to me if the State of Michigan will be so kind. We’ll see if I can get them to do that assuming I / we can get it figured out.

June 14, 2016 at 11:53 pm #38288June 15, 2016 at 1:05 am #38296I just went and looked at my FD. The # is stamped right in the curve on that brace. I’ve not seen one without it somewhere on there. It doesn’t look like that brace was replaced at one time does it? Their should be a tag on each top corner on your transom if someone hasn’t taken them off. That’s the capacity and HP tag. The HP tag is usually less than what alumacraft says the boats are actually rated for. Not sure why that is though. Regardless that’s a nice boat. Looks really clean, nice find. Was the seller the original buyer?

Thanks for the compliment on the boat. It is pretty decent and I think I’ll be quite happy with it once I get it fixed up a bit. Also thanks for checking get yours and confirming the location of the number. It does not appear that the knee brace has ever been replaced. I believe I bought this boat from the second owner. Both the capacity / hp rating get tag and the nameplate/model tag are missing from the transom on this boat. The inner transom board is rotting at the ends and will get replaced. I’m not sure if it is still original or not but it looks like there are 4 nails or similar fasteners that once held one of the tags in place still left in the board. I think it is not original though. There are some hokey little screws going through holding the upper braces to the transom. There was some hack work done on this boat in the past. It’s unfortunate but I still think I did well considering it is quite solid and I didn’t pay that much for it. I’m still ‘guessing’ that this is an FD with a front deck from the research I have done so far. It will be another week before I can get the registration transferred so I’ll see what I can figure out by then.VinTin,
GOOD EYE! I believe you do see a 2 in that spot. Maybe I’ll try the old paper and crayon trick and see if I can make out anything else. At least I know where to look and what to look for a little better now. That Brace is pretty scratched / gouged / beat up. Not sure what that could be from but something was banging around back there at some point. Thanks guys. I’ll let you know what else I find out.
