      Here is an example where you find the model and serial#;

Thanks John C, I’ll try out the different plugs.

Oldy, I didn’t see a posting that says you cleaned the fuel system. After getting spark the next thing to check out is the tank and lines. Any plug that makes a spark and fits in the hole will be fine for initial check/startup. Getting the crud out of an old tank can be a bugger. E85 gas (used as a cleaner) and some threaded nuts and a lot of shaking the tank will help. Gotta have the right mix of gas and air to make’r purr! Hopefully it has some compression too. Don’t worry about the numbers so much because compression will change as the motor loosens up.

The steps you have taken so far seem to indicate
you have some experience diagnosing starting issues.
When you put gas directly into the cylinder, assuming its
not too much or too little, and you have spark but you
get nothing, this is often because the rings are stuck.
Not uncommon in a motor that has been sitting for
decades and was last run with oil from that time which
produced a lot of carbon deposits compared to the 2
cycle oil we have today. To check the rings remove
the exhaust manifold and move the piston so you can
see the rings. Then take something too push on them
noticing if they seem to break free if they will move at all.
There is enough room behind them that you should
have noticeable movement if they aren’t stuck.

A "Boathouse Repair" is one that done without having tools or the skills to do it properly.

Remove the tiller handle. Behind the shock obsorber there should be a serial number. Is the exhaust can aluminum or a metal can? What does the sheave plate say on it? IS the lower unit water pump bras and exposed or is it in an L Shaped Alum shroud.
Sounds so far like you have a Model A from 35 or 36.
              Tks,
