I rescued a 5hp Flambeau from the local scrap yard. (Also saved a ’46 Sportwin.) The Flambeau is missing gas cap, lower cowl/cover, prop – (cylinders and pistons are damaged). I’m a newbie – can’t find much info online and would love to see this motor live again – If any interest in the remaining parts, let me know. Mjcopp@yahoo.com
I have 2 of those. Parts are nearly impossible to find unless you can find them used. I have only seen one run in my life on Utube. One of the members here has a running 3hp single. I’m just going to restore mine as a wall hanger. They are neat looking motors. Just not a really great design.
Thanks for the reply gentlemen. The motor is in Fond du Lac, WI. If I were to restore it, I would need new cylinders and pistons, gas cap and prop w/ nut. If these are unattainable, I would be willing to sell as a parts motor. If nothing else I will hang it. It really is a cool albeit strange motor. I would love to see it run again, even if someone else restores it.
The AOMCI meet in Tomahawk WI had several Flambeau’s for sale last August. Wayne is in that general area too. It’ shouldn’t be too tough to find another for parts or maybe better than yours to restore. They certainly didn’t copy too many other companies.
