Amazon sells water pump impellers that they say replace Johnson #375638.

eBay also offers tons of them for $9.99.

My metal pump housing is #303070.

Please share thoughts on fitment and performance. I don’t know if OEM new old stock is a better choice? My concern being that an old rubber impeller may have deteriorated.

      Thanks!

You are better off leaving the original impeller in place then gambling on one of these amazon/chinese impellers.  This stuff is inexpensive for a reason.  Yes, the OEM stuff is over priced, but never take a gamble like this when it comes to water pump parts.

Thanks for ALL of the great advice you’ve given me!  I connected with Steve D.  I’d rather buy parts from a member than Amazon, and Steve’s been super helpful too.  I’m getting a new impeller and wear plate and some seals from Steve, and he gave me advice on restoring some 2-line gas tanks that I got locally.

The help I’ve gotten is making a huge difference not only in how much faster I’ll get my Seahorse restored, but the feeling of comradery makes it way more fun!

Hi, I’m sort of a newbie and in the same boat (pun intended 🙂 )

I’ve purchased the cheap impellers from Amazon before and I’m not impressed.

This gentleman named Steve D. that you mentioned, would he be willing to sell me an impeller also?

            THANKS!

Hi Rob, I happened to have an extra OEM impeller on hand that I was able to send to Larry with a few other parts. I got it off ebay, but there may be some other members here who have a supply of OEM parts. If you do buy off ebay, look for OEM packaging, or a listing that says “Genuine” or “OEM”, and a seller with good feedback.
