I have inherited my dad’s collection of over 100 restored outboards and am looking for someone to do an appraisal. I am located in West-Central Minnesota. Thanks, Phil

March 8, 2022 at 6:22 pm #255790I don’t know of anyone that does “official” appraisals of outboards, but if you post photos
of the outboards, a lot of guys will give you some “ball park” figures. So many variables,
ie, condition, rarity, location, etc.
Are you looking to sell them as a lot, sell them individual, or just curious?Prepare to be boarded!
March 8, 2022 at 8:36 pm #255796Hello – I am in a similar situation. My uncle recently passed and we are cleaning his estate. He has approx 15 +/- vintage outboards (mostly 1950’s) which we are looking to appraise and sell. I am in western New York. I’ve looked on eBay but some of them are not out there. Any suggestions to assist?
Thank you, Nancy
March 8, 2022 at 10:05 pm #255800Nancy, Hopefully someone out East will respond, as they’d know better what the going prices are
than someone in MN as myself. If you get no response, same goes as my previous post…….
Post photos of the engines. Lots of knowledgeable members will tell you “what” make
and model they are, and ball park prices.
If you’re not able to post photos (not sure if non members can), let us know,
and you can email me or someone else with your photos, and we can post them here.Prepare to be boarded!

Send me an email: eddelliott@cox.net. I am an AOMCI member and have made collection purchases. Request you put together an inventory list by manufacturer and model number to get an idea of what you have. I will try and work with you.

March 10, 2022 at 8:32 pm #255972You can’t really judge a motors value by looking at ones for sale on Ebay as many sellers there seem to think there’s is the last one in existence with an inflated value and price it accordingly. In reality they are dime a dozen motors and only worth a fraction of the selling price.
Now your motors may be different. If your collections contains a truly rare or scarce model, then it will be worth more than a more common outboard. As mentioned, it might be best to try and find a knowledgeable club member who can help you out and figure out a true current value.
Can you post some photos of them here? I’m curious.

March 12, 2022 at 1:44 pm #256104Hello – He has about 15 motors on stands and many more in various states around the garage. We think he was using them for parts. Here are a few pictures
