I’m trying to find info on an old motor that belonged to a family member. The only info I have is that it is an Eclipse Outboard SM. Not sure if it runs.I do have the serial number. Mostly I’d like to get an idea of value and ultimately sell it. Thanks.

If the hinges are not broken, nor any of the grill, and not too dented up,
and decals are decent, it will bring more money. Yours looks to be
in decent shape. Of course, the engine needs to turn over with compression,
or else it’s considered a parts motor and worth much less.
In good shape, I’ve seen them go for $175 to $275, and for much
less, if not so good of shape.

          Prepare to be boarded!

The previously mentioned grill fins, skeg, tiller and cut off switch are commonly broken on the Bendix SM. The fewer of these issues your motor has the more it will be worth. Condition is everything. Bendix are not valuable motors, but they are very collectible. People seem to like them.
