I think the new type PT lumber has a high salt content and can cause corrosion and/or rust. I know it is not good for aluminum boats due to that problem.

Archangel, I didn’t realize treated lumber was so corrosive.
        Regular pine it is! Thanks!

        Prepare to be boarded!

Yeah, it can be a bit of a surprise sometimes. Never a pleasant one, either.

Here is an interesting article that explains the problem better and more fully than I could:

            quote gdcarpenter:

Being one to overkill I used white oak for my cradles and battens, epoxied and varnished. Then again it’s carrying the boat I spent 2 years building. I used stainless steel staples to tack the bunk carpet down on the underside of the battens.

If the trailer is that nice, we’d love to see photos of the boat

I used galvanized roof nails to nail my carpet to wood bunks.

                The Boat.

After 2 years on display in our family room the wife wanted the outboard ‘out’. So I found plans for a boat from GlenL that best suited the ’59 Mark35A and 2 years later had me a boat

Beautiful! Which plan is that? I have plans for a Zip along with the frame and transom kit that have been sitting and waiting 7 or so years for me to get my act together and build.

Cedar should be a good choice as well, with stainless staples.

                      It’s a "ZIP" – ergo the boat’s name.
