      Morning everyone,
Replacing control cables on a vintage 1957 Evinrude/Simplex twin motor controller.
How far should the actual cable protrude through the nylon rack inside the controller, or should it be flush to the end of the rack?
      Thanks,
      John

I believe the spec is flush to 1/16" outside the rack, if I am correctly understanding your question. Leave one set screw a few turns loose, then snug up the other set screw and tighten it one extra turn, then tighten up the other set screw. This procedure puts a nice bend in the cable core wire so it won’t pull out if the set screws loosen up.
