How hard would it be to convert this motor to controls from it’s current tiller configuration? Are the parts hard to find?

Parts are EASY to find… use AOMCI’s Webvertize and post a "WANTED" ad

I believe you just need the controls and steering bracket.

I have never converted a Merc before. Anyone have a diagram of how the cables attach to the motor?

There is a kit for the motor for this job.

Where would I find a kit to fit this 1967? Like I said, Mercs are foreign to me but this one looks really nice.

Wow, imagine that.. Merc saw fit to post the timing specs right on the motor in what seems to be both inches +and+ degrees BTDC.

                  Do I read it correctly at 0.5" / 45′ ?

I have an extra steering arm bracket. Purchased it off of e-bay and then found the one I picked up the year before! (We are in Kenosha.) I may also have some brackets. The gear shift cable attaches to the gear shift lever inside the lower cowl. There is a rubber plug in the front of the cowl for this. The throttle cable parts attach to the pivot on the exhaust cover and attach to the throttle assembly. The cable also enters via a rubber plug at the front of the motor, this case, it is just above the linkage from the tiller handle.

Thanks Mercman. If I can get him to budge on the price I hope to grab it. For now he’s standing firm.
