Hi guys, the stuff from before ’58 seems a little elusive on the Internet, at least in terms of figuring out which kit will work. I’m fine with aftermarket like Sierra or GLM, just need to know which part number (preferably the kit but I’m willing to buy individual pieces).

I don’t have the QD-16 parts book, but I believe the QD-17 was the same and I have those part numbers, which may have been superceded at some point. This is the case with the bigger prop shaft, and the internal pivot pin for the shifter yoke, instead of having the screw through the side of the case.

Original OMC part numbers I found:

      Prop shaft seal: 302495
      Shift shaft O-ring: 301877
      Drive shaft seal: 41-62
      Carrier O-ring: 302493
      Spaghetti seal: 302513

Wouldn’t even take it apart but the shift shaft seal is leaking pretty bad.

      Thanks.

To my knowledge, Sierra does not make a kit for it. But a couple of our guys are putting together a kit from parts. But I don’t remember who.

A Sierra 18-2684 kit will work except has the wrong prop shaft seal for your motor. The gotcha is 302495 prop shaft seal has a different outside diameter.

        41-62 is superseded by 321788 (Sierra 18-2032)

I found this list on another site so it should help to narrow your search down. Chris has the kits here:

          http://www.myoldboatmotor.com/gearcase-seal-kits.html

Some Sierra kits used to come with four seals instead of two but I’ve lost the P/N over time. This way one kit worked for several models.
