Would this motor be a 1949?
The “Firestone” decoding of the data plate as on my 1953,
appears to be different than Corsair.
Seeing how “49” appears in the model and serial number
of this Corsair, I’m leaning toward 1949 for the year made.

      Corsair 5 hp
      Model 4927
      Serial 493473

Unlike the 53 Firestone, the Corsair has the “larger lams.” Wico coils,
which I assume makes it older.
Gear case was missing parts, bearings shot, etc., and I’m still sorting
out if a Scott parts motor’s gearcase will swap out, even though it
has a different driveshaft, with a “stub” shaft.

Thanks again Frank. Funny, but I did a Google search yesterday,
and that site never came up.
