Here is a motor the Upper Canada Chapter purchased recently. Its a cut away display motor. I’m not a Chrysler guy so I don’t know what year it is. Its appears to be about 10 hp. Its pretty neat. When you crank the flywheel the spark plugs fire or at least they should.

It look’s to be about a 1964/65 20hp. Very cool.

The 1966 parts book I have looks identical – Except for being electric start. The Sea King model (VWB) wasn’t that fancy. Chrysler put a lot of money into the buy out of West Bend Aluminum’s marine division. It really paid off for them. When the Government forced the sale in 1984, Chryslers Marine Division was the only division of the company operating in the black. . . 😎

I’m surprised its 20 hp. Its not very big or heavy. Thanks for the ID. I’ll use that information when I make a sign for it.

It seems to be a pretty well thought out cut away. They have cut every single working part and colour coded different parts. I’d guess it was meant to be learning tool and not just a display. The quality of the work is also very good. The cut aways were done with a milling machine. It was also very affordable.

Someone went to a lot of work to make this display unit. Very well done!

As I’ve mentioned before, the Chrysler (West Bend) motors were well engineered and are often overlooked.

I am sure it was heavier before the aluminum moths chewed all the holes in it. . . 😆

                    Ha. I’m sure it was.

I was also impressed by how well the motor was engineered. Still too new for me.

I found many of these motors with bad gearcases. Had plenty of powerheads but the gearcases were worn out due to failing seals on the shift shaft. On the good ones I made sure the gearcase was sealed up properly and discovered what a great running outboard they are.
