Has anyone heard about the EPA pushing a bill to make E15 fuel standard fuel to replace E10. This is not a good thing and will just make things harder and will drive up the price of non ethanol. Also some of us still drive older cars and trucks that will be harmed in many ways if one would use E15 fuel. Any info in this would be much appreciated.
      Thanks Jim B

In Minnesota, the Minnesota Street Rod Association’s legislative committee is doing what they can to lobby state legislators to block any such rule at the state level. It was their efforts that got the 10% ethanol law modified to allow ethanol-free premium to be sold in Minnesota. This group also is talking to our representatives and senators at the state level to try to keep the feds from legislating mandatory ethanol-gasoline mixes.

SEMA (Specialty Equipment Manufacturers Assn) recognizes the old car hobby as a multimillion dollar part of our national economy and lobbies at the state and federal level for ethanol free gas and other legislation friendly to the old car hobby. Below are sites run by SEMA’s Action Network for this purpose:

Here is a site with a similar effort to our Minnesota laws in the state of Maine:
        https://www.semasan.com/legislative-alerts/maine/maine-bills-allow-sale-ethanol-free-gasoline-statewide-introduced

Below is a site that addresses the problem at the federal level – they ask you to comment to the fed govt by April 22nd (Hurry up!) via this site:
        http://www.semasan.com/legislative-alerts/national/us-environmental-protection-agency-epa-proposes-expand-sale-e-15

Here is the link from the end of the above site to voice your concerns directly to the Feds:

The preferred fuel for racing outboards starting in the late 1920s was alcohol and caster oil. – 100% renewable and organic – How soon we forget . . .

I’m probably wrong, but i believe that the alcohol used in racing outboards is Methanol, not Ethanol. The reason we use Ethanol is that it can be readily concocted from corn.. Keeps the farmers happy. No need to be concerned about using food for fuel! I always thought that the Ethanol producers should be required to use only their product as the energy source in their distilleries. In addiition, the pric we pay at thepump should be based on BTU content, not gallons delivered. Far fewer BTUs in a gallon of Ethanol, compared to a gallon of pure gasoline. The Ethanol lobby is enabling the rip-off we must endure at the pump! R.T.
