I got this Electrol trolling motor. Runs, despite the sketchy wires. There’s no ID plate that I can see. Anyone know the year? Any suggestions on replacement wire? There must be some cloth covered wire that people use to redo old lamps and fans?

More photos…do you suppose the holes at back are for remote steering? How do I know which wire is positive? Anyone know where I can find a racing prop for this? 😀

I did take the cover off but the plate was missing. I think 1947 is about right.

Forget the Speed prop, just get more batteries!

There are antique electrical supply companies with heavier cloth
covered wire for restoring old lamps, etc.
I get an email occasionally from one that I bought from in the past.
If I get another, I’ll post the name.

Are you suggesting I go for endurance rather than speed?

I did a search on this and realized that the chord for lamps and fans would have two wires wrapped by cloth. I think I want two separate wires: one lead for positive and one lead for negative. Is cloth covered spark plug wire an option? I like that it’s encased in rubber and then covered with cloth, which is what the original wires look like. I see that Brillman carries this.
