That’s the plan Bob. If it will run I want to take it and 3 others, but I’m only aloud to take what I can fit in my tub. I planed to run twin Pals this summer. I’ve made the steering linkage so they’re on the list. I’m starting on the 1931 – OA-55 Johnson. Its a mess. I didn’t have the Cub or the OA-55  when I was making my plans. I may not get the OA-55 done in time, if it can be saved at all. Everything on it that is suppose to move is frozen. I have got it to turn over but its really stiff. It’s probably the 4’th junk motor I’ve brought home since I told myself “don’t buy any more junk motors!” Tubs

A "Boathouse Repair" is one that done without having tools or the skills to do it properly.

Tubs, always loved the tanks on the OA 55’s. It  looked as is they ran out of the usual design rectangle tanks and had a bunch of tanks left over from a lawnmower or something. I’m sure there is an interesting story behind their design.
My money is on that you will get it up and running and cram it into the tub for July. Hopefully you can document the progress for all of us to drool over.

          .

I have a couple long distance friends Bob, that are interested in what I do.  Most everything I send them gets posted here. Tubs

I appreciate those comments. Thank you. Not to sure how many others “drool” over the pre. WW-II stuff as Bob and I do. I feel lucky to have this hobby I enjoy so much, and having this place to show what I’m discovering. Having pictures to share of a motor I have worked on to help someone get theirs running is rewarding. While even a table top mill and lathe are only in my dreams I like showing that you can repair stuff with mostly hand tools and things you may have laying around. Epically if you tend to keep stuff. That’s what you keep it for. Right? I’ve always felt that showing what we do here is one of the way to build interest in the hobby. I realize it’s really showing off and feel I may over do it sometimes as there isn’t that many others posting pictures of what they are doing.

Tubs- I don’t think you posting pictures is showing off at all.  I wish more people would post more pictures.  It documents things that will never be lost to time.  If someone has a question, you can respond with how to remedy their issue BUT pictures can show someone what it looks like or how to do something that words just can’t do. KEEP IT UP!

Tubs, please show off as much as you like. I agree with Gary H.
You are one of the few teachers, innovators, true mechanics, and problem solvers for the old iron on the forum.
The reason people don’t post the amount of pictures that you do is because it takes a lot of time.
First you have to stop the actual work progress, and set up a shot. You have to make sure the lighting is good, the background is not distracting, and the angle of the parts actually shows what  you are describing. Not that easy to go the extra mile.
With the advent of cell phones we are all photographers to a degree. I always try to include a picture or two when I post a comment / question . Nothing to your degree of complete storytelling, but still a shot or two. I feel it always makes the post more interesting, and easy for the members to help solve the problem.
So back to my original premise……keep showing off! 😀

O K. The OA-65 is going to be an interesting motor for me. I’ll keep posting on this adventure for anyone that wants to come along. Tubs
