I just inherited a 1938 Pal. The transom clamp is tight to the main tube, and the main tube is loose under the powerhead. I see two cast stops in the powerhead, which I think are limits for the steering. Maybe +/- 45 degrees? The main tube is stuck to the lower unit, and i think this is where its supposed to pivot. Is there a common failure here, and what is the fix? Also the small water tube has a piece of rubber hose substituted for about the last 5″, just above the lower unit.
It’s missing the tiller arm, and the transom clamp washer. Are these available?
