A "Boat House Repair" is one that done without having tools or the skills to do it properly.
December 15, 2016 at 3:28 am #49211Thank you Richard and Tubs. Great videos. Have you tried a Zephyr coil in PVC to avoid the mess?
December 15, 2016 at 4:19 am #49213December 15, 2016 at 5:25 am #49215Thanks again Tubs. My wife would never let me get away with boiling a coil in the basement. Since my coil only reads 3.5 I’ll buy the Zephyr coil and a condenser. Is there a pn for the Zephyr coil?
December 15, 2016 at 1:35 pm #49222Tubs, would you consider doing a tech article for the Antique Outboarder magazine?–This is the type stuff we really need to be submitted!

December 15, 2016 at 6:56 pm #49237The Zephyr and Lightfour use the same coil. Steve Woods is running his Atwater Kent motors on a PVC pipe containing 4 alkaline "D" cells. That system is the most efficient ever devised. It only draws current when the motor is running (If the capacitor is good – that is not leaking or shorted.) and only draws enough to charge the capacitor. The draw back, limited RPM. . . 😉
December 16, 2016 at 12:58 am #49245Excellent videos Tubs. I can make copies of John Van Vleets "An Appreciation of Elto Light Twin Outboard Motor", circa 1976, which goes into detail of the Atwater-Kent timer. Evinrude liked this timer on his Packard and subsequently used them on the Eltos. This explanation goes into the timing and theory of the ignition and why it works differently than others. Contact me by PM for a copy.
