Just bought a tune up kit from my local supplier. I like buying local, keeps folks in the area working. Instead of the usual Sierra kit, he had one from EMP. So I bought it and will use it on my next tune up. These actually say Made in the USA!! On that alone, I bought it.
Is anyone familiar with them?
Thanks in advance.
Bob
I googled them and it didn’t take long to come up with a PDF catalog. I highly suspect that much of this stuff is purchased from somebody else–maybe even Sierra (??). Or Sierra might be purchasing it from EMP (??). Anyhoo, here is a link to the outboard portion of the catalog http://www.sealtechcorp.com/2010Catalog/Sect4-JEV.pdf
Well my experience has been it depends on what part it is. That just makes it more confusing. EMP products from Donovan Marine are sold as 4-the last four Sierra digits. In the case of the tune up kit it is the Sierra tune up kit. The one we all want to avoid! Now the carburetor kits and impellers seem to be the same as BRP items. (Made by the same vendor). Of course when you find the same vendor then the part is not any cheaper or may cost a little more than OEM? Depends on the seller. Trying to figure out quality & origin of parts is a full time job. You can’t even do it by price, but if it’s too cheap it’s usually not too good! Just my opinion.
