Which of the two photos below is the correct color scheme.
As I look around the internet I see several different color shemes for this motor but I think one of these is correct please set me on the correct color scheme before I start to paint.
    Thanks

10016 is a 1958, and the first picture is correct (blue and blue). Blue and Charcoal is a 1957

Thanks frankf —- now thinking I may not have a 1958 cover as if you look at the picture of it the decal is white. Does the decal have a white base with the true color on top?

Looks like a 1958 cowl to me. The font matches 58.

That is a 58 cowl. The 57 has the script logo. Yours has / had the block lettering in the style of 1958.

If you have the whole motor, you can verify the rest of it is a ’58 to if it has a kill button mounted down low on the front. 57’s didn’t have this feature.

Methinks the lettering decals have eroded away, leaving the underlying white paint exposed. Methinks the recently exposed paint is whiter than the rest because it was covered by the decals for so many years..

Thanks for all the help and I think I am now sure it is a 1958. I have starter to get it ready to paint some day down the road.
    Thank You ALL
