I’ve got an old Evinrude 4265, that belonged to my late wife’s grandfather that I’m trying to get running for my stepdaughter and I’m in need of a coil (see pictures),  Any suggestions on where I might find one or if there is a suitable /compatible one I can replace it with?  Any help would be appreciated!

There may be nothing wrong with the coil. How are you testing it? Tubs

Thanks for your response!  The leads on the coil were brittle and not connected.  If you look closely at the second picture you can see where new leads were solder and connected and still no spark, which to me says “bad coil”.

If you cant find an original replacement, with some modification you can use one of these. Its a 2 spark coil so you will have to ground the lead you don’t use. This 2 lead coil is actually a plus as it moves the spark plug wire away from the crankshaft.  https://www.ebay.com/itm/232218550107

Awesome!  I will give it a try and thank you.  I’ll let you know if it works.

wires don’t look good I agree but did you measure the coil resistance ?      condenser could be toast…      contact surfaces bad and needs a good cleaning has suggested
