I picked up a nice little Sportwin yesterday. Model 4423. Serial #87769.

Has the wrench and shear pins under the cover.

Has spark and a clean gas tank. I need to have a look at the carburetor next. This one looks interesting.

Good pick, DB! Show us the wrench. I don’t know about that accessory.

Have you tried starting it yet as it seems the 3/8″ primer cups on these motors go bad and then they drip fuel mix or won’t prime the motor for starting. That’s nice having the original wrench and a full load of shear pins under the cover to!

Did you get the decoder ring? Without that, it’s just a parts motor.

                Jim,

I have not tried putting gas in it yet. Soon, though!

That wrench is pretty cool! I have a couple motors with the shear pin holder but no wrench. Did the wrench come with these motors does anybody know? I will have to keep an eye out for one.

                    Dale,

The wrench was included with the motor, along with the screwdriver tiller grip. The parts breakdown on these motors shows the part #’s.

This is the first of these motors I have so it is new to me.

The Sportwin is a runner. I got the carb cleaned and back together tonight, used a Quad ring for a sediment bowl gasket and it started. I will post a video tomorrow as it is dark here at the moment! With any luck it will pump water!

Is the screen necessary in the 1940 evinrude sportwin carb mounting gasket? Gasket is looking rough anymore and I need to make a new one.Any info would be much appreciated. 🙂
