i am working on a 1951 7.5 evinrude mod.4443 i have read in past of modifying a newer type impeller to fit my motor any info on that would be greatly appreciated thanks
marineengine.com shows one in stock, part # 276857. Personally, I’d call club member Brian Wilcox to see if he makes that one. He makes many other impellers, using your hub.
Others have ground down a later model 5.5/7.5hp impeller. Good luck.
Contact for Brian—call 810-794-7685 before 8 pm est please.Or email Baron0418@att.net. please note the b must be a capital.
Steve wood does it, it takes the 7.5 impeller from the mid to late 50s and put it on a belt sander, make sure it has the brass hub and make sure you keep checking it periodically not to take too much off 🤔
Yes the 5 1/2 impeller will work it needs to be sanded down a little and the ID needs to be bored out a little. The sanding goes easier than I thought it would if you have a belt sander. Take a little of each side and check it often in the housing. They pump like crazy. Mine shoots the water out about 20 inches behind the motor.
