Is the Evinrude Lark IV a good motor?

OK, now I have to think back to remember which year was the IV. I think 1962, right? Then I have to think back to remember whether it was manual or electric shift. I think it was offered in both versions, right? So, which do you have?

The question was is it a good motor. Yes, excellent motors. But condition is everything. And the electric shift was good back in the day, but gets a lot of bad comments today. Most of them from lack of knowledge and/or the expense of repairs. An example would be the shift switch in the remote control. A new one goes for around $400 –IF you can even find one. And that brings up the topic of condition again. If you are looking at a motor that doesn’t include the remote control and wiring/junction box, well there ya go. That stuff is worth more than the whole rest of the motor.

I guess I was kinda wondering about the electric shift. How can you tell if the motor has electric shift or not?

Well the lack of shift handle is the easiest way to describe.
