Ben, that would make sense that the marked are for keeping
the line-boring correct, as the piece looks totally symmetrical
180 degrees apart, in size, holes, etc.
Ed, I thought about the slide hammer for the
thrust bearing, but it doesn’t appear the center
hole is threaded. Not sure if a screw tip on the
slide hammer would booger anything up or not.
If the compressed air doesn’t work, then I’ll try
      the coat hanger approach.
      Thanks!

I’ve never seen one that wouldn’t jar out by zonking it on the bench.

What about this tool? Believe ot or not, this paint lid remover has come in handy many many times for me over the years. May not be quite long enough to reach it but it could be "customized" to make it work. 🙂

So far it wouldn’t wiggle with a needle nose or screwdriver.
Unfortunately, I have several of those paint can openers,
as every time my wife thinks I need to change the color
of the living room or kitchen walls, the hardware store
            gives me another opener!
It will come out tomorrow….. one way or another 😮

Update, this AM I tried compress air, blowing in the
center hole of the thrust bearing….. no go, it’s too
              open behind the bearing.
Tried the heavy wire / hook method….. no go!
Finally screwed a 12-24 tap into the center hole
a ways and pulled….. popped right out. Surprised
to see it’s some kind of plastic.
