Yes Gary. Thought about going a all the way through.
Could seal the edges of the coil easy enough but the
coil tab for the spark plug runs into the gas tank. Only
having one RBM coil to experiment with limits what
I can try. Now that I have cut it up my options are reduced
even more. Also I cant modify my mag plate to the point
that I cant return to a buzz coil if in fact I’m successful
only to find out a substitute coil won’t produce a strong
enough spark to start the motor.A "Boathouse Repair" is one thats done without having tools or the skills to do it properly.

Very prudent approach. I worked on one of these last year, in hopes of getting something useful under the flywheel. I even considered a small gel cell battery and converting a small coil to a buzz system. The coil would have to be stood upright because of the clearance. I gave up and the motor went to the owner with a buzz coil.
I’m glad someone is taking this project forward. Best of luck, nice job on the documentation.

December 4, 2017 at 12:38 am #68232Mistook interference between coil laminate
shoes with the magnets to be a problem with
the size of the coil. Put some aluminum foil
on top of the coil and put the flywheel on.
Turns out there is plenty of room. Got it
together enough to do a little test to see if it
is worthwhile going any farther.A "Boathouse Repair" is one thats done without having tools or the skills to do it properly.

there. Have spent a couple days on a
You Tube slide show. Should have time
to finish it shortly. Don’t know when
the weather will let me open the door
to do an actual run test.A "Boathouse Repair" is one thats done without having tools or the skills to do it properly.

I say "pardon me" a lot. I had a 20H, then raced open mod sleds.
