If any zephyr experts are out there I sure could use some help/clarification.. on my 1946 evinrude zephyr 4404 .. is there some kind of bushing or key that connects the drive shaft to the flywheel ? All the gearsspin in the Lower unit and I can see when I remove the motor off the post that it spins but it appears to be too short to reach the flywheel?” I have even purchased another drive shaft with same results… too short. The part diagram references a five inch longer drive shaft.. she starts great but I can’t keep her going because with out the shaft spin no water pumping up. If anyone has any pictures to help see what I should be looking for would be awesome.. thank you
