I am finishing up a couple of1958 7.5’s They are in good original shape and look good with a thorough cleaning. The face plate rubber gaskets are in poor condition. I looked at all I have for spares and they are not much better. I googled the part # to no avail. #303527 5.5&7.5’s, 303537 for the ten’s. Any Ideas for a replacement product to make some or a source for replacements?
Thanks Dave in N.H.February 20, 2018 at 2:07 am #71358February 20, 2018 at 3:38 am #71367And the link to ny’s home page:
A cheap replacement I’ve seen was made out of thin wall tubing of some kind. It was slit lengthwise so it could be wrapped around the plate. Since you can’t really see the grommet, I’ve thought about trying something similar myself especially since I have short arms and deep pockets. ☺

February 20, 2018 at 12:21 pm #71379As i indicated why not call up NYM and tell them what you need specifically…. so you get the proper size but I agree it looks pricy
As mumbles indicated splitting a small rubber hose carefully down the middle should do the job of stopping vibrations.
I did that for my hood on a 3.9 Merc glued with black GOOP adhesive and it worked perfectly

classicomctools@gmail.comFebruary 21, 2018 at 1:16 am #71405Thanks guys. I just looked at NY Marine you suggested. That’s what the doctor ordered. They have all the grommets I’ve been fudging to make the motors look good. May have to be good. My birthday is coming right up!!
