Hey guys , what do y’all usually use for filler over aluminum.. I have a few small dents on my tank that need filling ..
Regular bondo right over the metal ? I know using bondo on boat hulls are not recommended due to the talc which over time can absorb water ..
But may be ok on a tank .
Tanks for any suggestions ! 😁

I also use JB Weld to fill small areas. I prefer the slower setting to the quick. If any of my tanks looked that good, i would keep it original.

Then you can finish it off with glazing putty if needed.

I use a product called steel stick. Its a two part, cut a piece off and kneed it, epoxy filler. thicker than J-B so you can kinda form it to shape. Not so good for thin applications but seems great for those deep bends on the edges of tanks. rough it up good with coarse sandpaper then apply .

The JB weld worked pretty good . Tank looks ok so far . I used etching primer couple light coats . Then clean metal primer over that ..

What to use? Bondo, bondo, and more bondo! Or any other brand of your favorite plastic body filler. It works well as long as the surface is roughed up a bit so the filler has some tooth to grip to.
