Hi, I’m having a hard time finding both the year and hp of a Evinrude 4423-36137 Sportwin. It has 2 cylinders so I believe it’s at least a 5hp. The seller said they thought it was a 7.5 hp. Every chart I’ve come across says 3 or 3.5. What the heck?

I believe they are 3.3 HP and were made between 1948 to 1951

Thanks for the info and the introduction to the New England chapter.

Hey man, I sent you a private message (PM).

In the meantime, here is a video by member Dave Bartlett. This is a complicated little motor, especially the carb.

I’m a new forum member so hopefully I’m doing this right 🙂

But that model 4423 is indeed a 3.3hp sold as model years 1948-1951. Yours is a 1948 model as can be found by comparing your serial number to this list provided in Peter Hunn’s Old outboard book. For anyone interested, you can access this book for free on archive.org
