I bought a "Barn Find" and plan to restore it. My Q. is what color paint should I use for the flywheel, rope sheave, gas tank, power head and lower unit.
It’s been repainted so I can’t tell what it should look like.

Try scraping off a little extra paint to see what color is under it for factory color. Next get some clear tape & place it on the factory color & remove. This will give you a sample of the color. Go to your automotive paint store to check the touch up cans of paint which is a match.
Also post your serial & model number of the motor for it to be looked up as well,
        Jeff

Model 463 S/N 41391. Sanding down through the layers sounds like a good idea. Thanks.

I believe it should be dull aluminum paint.

              Frank,
I believe you are correct but I wasn’t sure myself without the I.D. to look up,
              Thank you,
              Jeff

I think this might be what you’re looking for. This is the model 464. I will assume that the 464 is the same as the 463 (both are listed for the same year) except for the rewind starter.

                  Dull aluminum is correct.
