      Today I took the 1934 Lightwin rotary valve for its first boat run.
      Heree is a pic of the motor

      LESSONS (RE)LEARNED
      1. No matter how tight you set the transom clamps they will vibrate loose on the way to the lake.
      2. No matter how tight you think the tilt bolt is – its not tight enough to keep the motor tilted on a rocky launch.
      3. No matter how stiff the fuel shutoff friction seems it will vibrate closed and you will wonder why the motor stopped.
      4. You forgot that some floats open up when the motor is tilted and spill gas all over the boat.
      5, You should know better than to choke (or prime) a hot motor to restart it.

      Once these leassons were learned the motor ran well and I had a good day!

        Cool. Sounds like you had fun, eventually! If you’re anything like me, you’ll only have to learn these lessons 3 or 4 more times.

        And another lesson learned for your list:

        6. Only loosen the vent cap screw as much as necessary, otherwise it will rattle loose and fall into the lake. (BTW, does anyone have a vent cap screw for a 1952 Martin 75?)
