Use only the OMC puller, try a 1/2" impact gun on the large puller bolt….
July 12, 2017 at 12:39 pm #61466I purchased one of these. I believe he makes them. I am very pleased with it. Not a cheapo. I have been using mine several years now.

the sign of a low hours motor.A "Boat House Repair" is one that done without having tools or the skills to do it properly.
July 13, 2017 at 9:12 pm #61551Consider yourself lucky. I still have the flywheel on my Ski Twin under tension using an OMC puller, as it has been for several months now.
Nothing I’ve tried has been able to break it loose. 🙁July 13, 2017 at 9:21 pm #61553quote Wet Willie:Consider yourself lucky. I still have the flywheel on my Ski Twin under tension using an OMC puller, as it has been for several months now.
Nothing I’ve tried has been able to break it loose. 🙁Have you tried any penetrating oil like Kroil or Blaster ❓
What about a little heat at the flywheel near the crank taper to expand the flywheel taper but not too close to the crank taper ❓ Kroil with heat really seeps deep. Not familiar with OMC flywheels.July 14, 2017 at 1:36 am #61580Don’t give up. I cranked on mine for a month. I put a pipe on the wrench handle and was sure I would break the flywheel or crankshaft. (It had not been off in 50 years) I stomped off in disgust and slamed the garage door as I left. The report I heard made me go back. The flywheel was sitting at an angle. It has broken loose with enough force to clear the end of the crankshaft. The coils were a mess. My yearly fogging and cranking had ground the plastic into the breaker cam leaving gouges. I put in a new one. It also got a new water pump. – Good Luck ! 🙂
July 14, 2017 at 2:41 pm #61604Oh, I won’t give up. The motor has been on a stand with the flywheel puller bolt cranked down for about 6 months now. Sooner or later, I figure its got to let go. In the meantime, I bought a ’79 Evinrude 35 that needed wires (thanks to mice with obvious bladder control problems), a carb rebuild and water pump. I got it running like a watch on the back of my ’56 FC Rocket and am really enjoying it.
July 16, 2017 at 1:02 pm #61686I’ve never had a motor, that an OMC flywheel puller wouldn’t work on. I have an original 57 Big Twin, that I believe had never had the flywheel pulled. As Garry said, it had been on there for 50 plus years. The OMC tool pulled the 1/4 inch bolts out, after a few tries. I tapped them oversize, then used the 1/2 inch impact to finally pop it off. If you use an impact, you have to be careful and use some common sense, but it works well.
