I have a 1958 jhonson 18 hp I believe the fuel pump to be bad . It only has a fuel in and fuel out on the pump and a hole on the back of pump with a rubber gasket and a hole on the motor where I assume it draws a vacuum . Question is this the way this motor came out to draw fuel or was it changed over ,where can I buy this type of pump or will a three line pump work with one hole plugged I would think not if no way to draw vacuum on back of pump thanks for any help on where to buy one .

With only 2 fuel lines (in and out), it sounds like your motor was converted to a fuel pump system in place of the factory original 3-line system that used a pressure type fuel tank.   This conversion required capping or plugging the original air supply line on the intake manifold, so verify that it has been plugged (see pic attached).  You can buy a replacement 2-line fuel pump at a number of places – do a search for Sierra 18-7350.

somebody  changed  the  side piston  cover port  with a more ” modern”  one  with mounting  holes  to bolt the pump  on then   …. mounted the  pump to get rear end  pulsing from the crankcase   to drive it and  plugged the air nipple.

the side  dual air/fuel  connector  was probably replaced  for a single line one

          good mod.
