What are you ol crusty mechanics recommending for fuel mix in the early ’70’s Johnsons that call for 50:1? Would the HP make any difference?

If I was you Young fellow I would mix it at 50/1

If the motors were mine, I would run them at 40:1 for the two cylinder models, and 32:1 for the higher HP models. A little extra oil will not harm them but may extend their life a lot.

If you have too many, AND not enough, you're a collector.
