As I was sanding off paint on my Gator trailer frame today,
I found the following stamped on the top of the frame……..
      W-214-1942
I presume "214" is the model number, but I’ve seen other photos
of Gator trailers that don’t look anything like mine that the owners
      say are model "214".
If the "1942" is the year of manufacture, then it’s a lot older than
I would have guessed. Also if it’s that old, I have to wonder if it
has normal tapered roller bearings that I can replace.
Any thoughts on the model designation or the year?
      Thanks.

1942, Most likely not unless it was made for the war.

There’s dark blue / black under the two coats of yellow
paint, but I assume that’s a primer, and not war paint!

These photos are questionably from a 1962 brochure. There was a 200 series and a 214 model. I would guesstimate that yours may be a bit earlier production since yours does not have the fancy schmancy fenders. I suspect mine was the 145 model.

Thanks GD! Looks like the 214 Model simply designates it’s
for 13 to 14′ boats. Wonder what the differences are in
the standard and super winches? Will have to look at mine
closer and see if there’s any clues.
I guess then that the "1942" following my model number is the
serial number. Would be interested in hearing from someone with
a 214 of known year manufactured to see if my serial number was
              higher or lower.
              Thanks!
