I just got this mercury grease gun hoping for a nice low tech simple solution to filling gear cases with grease, lubriplate 105, etc

Problem is the plunger won’t spring back and re-set after being pushed/compressed. It’s also very difficult to pull it back into position manually.

Anybody have any experience with these guns made for mercury?

OMC sold same or similar gun.  Mine didn’t work well, either.

for 105, easier to just squeeze the tube

Possibly an air lock behind the plunger.

Take the nozzle off. Inside you’ll find a spring and then a ball bearing. Often times the ball bearing will become stuck by old hard grease. Soak it in penetrant, remove , clean and reassemble. Pump away!

Unfortunately I dropped my gun with tube attached , resulting in the neck of the tube being snapped off, making the tube useless!
