Help identify old merc

I just picked this motor up today. I thought it was a kg4 from the tank band serial number but it doesn’t match the block.

If they look wierd I’m sorry. It has an aj29 carb limit n it also I’m pretty sure it isn’t right but I don’t know

In order to post here and on many forums….pics need to be re-sized.  Or Compressed.  Or both.  Not necessarily cropped although cropping out needless areas can also help in reducing MB size.

What do you think the serial number is on the block?  The pic is really not clear enough to say for sure.

5948501 there is an H stamped a little further down the 5 is out of wack maybe a error I don’t know what the H means or if anything maybe a date code not sure. I’ll leave that up to you guys and thanks for everyone who responded
