Can anyone shed some light on what model and year this Caille is? Most of the sales brochures that I have seen show the Caille branded motors with the 5 speed lower unit. The only number that I was able to locate are on the transom bracket. It is stamped D1214.

      Any ideas?

Looks like maybe the 1926 Scout or the 1927 Junior Twin

              Adam,

What you’ve got is a motor I’ve not seen before. I doesn’t fit any of the named Caille models but it
sure does look factory made and I think it was. Caille has a history of making parts bin motors.
The serial number prefix "D" indicates a Model 10 which was a 5 speed. The decal on the tank is similar
to the Scout but isn’t a wrap around. The original Scout decal was one piece starting on the front and
continuing all the way around to the front on the other side. Yours looks like it has a vertical border on
it on the back edge which is unlike any other I’ve seen.
Other differences from the model 10: later transom screws, soft cap on flywheel.
              So…….
Single speed Model 10 (parts bin special) made circa 1929

You’ve got an important motor in exceptional condition. If it was mine I wouldn’t even dust it.
Please keep it as a reference for what Caille actually sent out the door.

I’d like good photos of the decals on both sides of the front of the tank please.

              All the best,

                Jack,
I had assumed that the decal was one piece and had simply worn away. Now that you mention it, I will have to take a closer look.
When I look at the Old Outboard Book, I see a Junior Twin Model 10 (also available in 5 speed) listed for 1928, this may be what it was based on????
I can provide better photos of the motor, but that will not be until spring. It is tucked away at the cottage for the winter in a crate that someone built for it at one point.
I have no plans to alter it cosmetically, but may eventually try to make it run again.

Thanks eveyryoue for your input and if you see another with these decals, I would like to know.

                Adam
