Thanks david for your continuing concerns and well wishes.
As i sit here looking out the window at 615 PM on Tuesday there is not much to report. It is almost spooky quiet. Cloudy but insignificant rain. TV warns of a major record hurricane heading directly toward us. And the mess from the previous hurricane isn’t even cleaned up yet.

Many people have fled. To where? The highways are stop and go. Gas stations are lined up with people hoping to get enough gas to get away.

As for me, i am just too sick and unable to do anything about it even if i could. But we have great neigbbors. We are not in a storm surge danger area. But if a 150 MPH wind blows us away, so be it.

Fortunately, all of us in Florida appear to have survived with minimal damage. I’m in Gainesville and we had a LOT of rain and some strong wind, but it was much easier than Helene.

Thanks for the prayers!—Always accepted and appreciated!

Well, it finally happened.  I’ve lived here in Sarasota since 1952 and this is the first “real” hurricane I’ve seen.  Oh, there have been many Tropical Storms and some hurricanes that passed by and we were in the edge of them.  But this one was different.  It was a dead-center aim at us. The eye of the storm passed right over-through our location.  It’s true that it can be blowing 100 MPH and suddenly stop blowing for awhile (about an hour in this case), then suddenly restart blowing from another direction.  Very Interesting.

More specifically, the Internet, TV, and phone have been out all day, and just now came back on. So all I know is hearsay and possibly mis-information. I guess the eye wall came ashore on Siesta Key, one of our barrier islands. Our house is several miles inland from there. We got wind and tree damage, but no serious construction damage that I’m aware of, other than the usual pool cages, etc. There has been reports that one of the Siesta Key bridges collapsed, but I have no way of fact checking that.

BTW,for those who do not know this, I have Parkinson’s Disease. It just gets worse and worse.

Hi Frank, great to hear you are ok, but very sorry  to learn that you have Parkinson’s. Several friends of ours suffer with it, so I fully understand your situation!

You  folks have been very much in our thoughts and prayers. Our TV news has been showing the horrific destruction.

Two  hurricanes to deal with is mind blowing enough and then as well, we see all these tornadoes in the mix…….unbelievable!

                Best wishes and take care.
