I have an usual old tiller handle that’s most likely an early after market unit. It’s about 2 1/2 ft long but unusual part is that it is controlled by a push and pull mechanism instead of twisting handle. The end that mounts to motor might give a clue as to what it fit but then maybe not as it could have been sold with it’s own mounting bracket. The unit is froze up now and I have the pin pulled out that guides handle and looks to act as a lock at probably idle position. Any one ever seen one of these?

Nice find. I’ve never seen one of theses before but the attachment end appears similar to my 29 Lockwood Chief tiller.

          Tom,

I think Lyks2Tinker hit it on the head!—Look at the mounting end where there is a detent. Lockwoods have that type detent, plus the push-pull is indicative of a Chief’s type throttle..He may be on to something!

Have not seen one of those handles, at least not with a push-pull arrangement.

Not likely a Lockwood item, but I’ll look through my parts lists tonight to make sure.

The detent at the end doesn’t resemble the Chief arm, as they are meant to be lockable in any one of three positions (down, straight out, and up) and this one does not have a profile that would enable that sort of flexibility.

The throttle cable through the barrel design was also used on other motors, Evinrudes of the late 20’s among them.

            Hope this helps.

He's livin' in his own private Idaho..... I hope to go out quietly in my sleep, like my grand-dad did..... and not screaming, like the passengers in his car...
