That’s one way to get the dents out! There are pour-in products such as Kreem to seal a leaky tank but if it’s a tiny leak, I’ve found Marine-Tex epoxy works pretty good. It sets hard and is fuel proof. Just follow the instructions.
The original plugs in your motor were the now obsolete Champion 5MJ which were replaced by D9J but D9’s are a common over the counter plug. The only difference is the ground electrode is a bit shorter on the J plugs to help burn off deposits created by the oils used back in the day.
Plugs are set at .030" and the points at .020" while the fuel mix is 1/2 pint of oil to each gallon of gas to make a 16:1 mix.
