        Nose cone – or – Prop nut.         . . 😕

          That looks like the nose cone to the gear case of a Martin 200 racing engine.

          The only difference between the fishing motor and the racing motor to my knowledge was the tower mid section height, the drive shaft length and the nose cone on the gear case. The fishing motor gear case has a round cone and the racing motor has a pointed cone like the one you have shown.
