Looks like serial number 48707. According to a chart on the Yankee Chapter site, I think that makes it a 1927 Johnson. What model? (and how is that determined in with motors of this period?)

Thanks for your input, Stanley. I don’t have the rope plate. II compared it to a known A35 and there were differences (how the cooling lines ran?)

Pics match my 2 A35 engines.A25 model does route the lines differently and the lines are smaller dia.A45 has same lines as A35.I can’t really get a sense of size of your power head is it same size as your known A35 ?

They are similar in size. The cooling line looked different to me. I see now that the lower line is missing on the motor in question (above).

The jug castings have different numbers from the A35. I wonder if that can help identify the powerhead?

Going by casting numbers (022/012),top power head in picture is A25.Powerhead in bottom pictures is A35.

Strangely, the 022/012 motor is the one that had the A35 sheave plate. Both serial numbers come up as 1927 in the list I saw. Maybe they were using up the A25 jugs before switching over? Regardless, thanks for helping me chase this down.

Another thing to check is water line dia.A35 lines are 5/16” with 9/16” nuts.A25 has 1/4” lines with 1/2” nuts. This is probably best way to determine model.
