Hi all, A friend of mine found this motor in an antique shop. It is a Neptune made by the Muncie Gear Works. I know nothing about this motor. I can barely make out the serial number but appears to be D620 C and the model number is possibly WOL? Could anyone tell me the year and horsepower of this motor. I would also like to know if this is the original color and parts available. The motor looks like it may have had some restoration but I am not sure. My friend says it does turn over. The store is asking $175.00 for it. The motor is in California and I am in Wyoming. If it is anything worth buying my friend could bring it out with him when he returns to Wyoming thus saving me shipping cost. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

April 6, 2019 at 8:18 am #172704Since our data ends at 1969 and they were made well into the 1980’s, possibly a newer-than-1969 motor?
If you have too many, AND not enough, you're a collector.

April 6, 2019 at 9:12 pm #172758Not sure about original color – would need decals for full restore if orig color was gold. If the skeg is not broken, if the motor has compression, and the tank isn’t rusty, I’d offer $125 and be OK with $150. That’s a little high but they’re cool little motors. Could not tell whether the front faceplate was OK and the main jet needle knob/lever was OK. If not, count on spending another few bucks.
