I recently started work on a FD-12 I picked up. I changed the upper crank seal and put a new quad ring in the lower seal. I broke the idle screw and I will NOT pay the price for a new one.
I had an order ready for McMaster Carr and look what I found. Now I have a lifetime supply of quad rings and idle stop screws.

I will bring some to Bud’s on Saturday if anyone needs one.

Your’e right, I just looked one of those up the other day, and was shocked at the price! I think it was $45.00 or something like that. BRP is steadily raising prices. Looks like you found a good alternative.

OEM ones have a metal core, so that WHEN you put the engine down on its side and attempt to break it, it just bends over. It IS a special item. Whether it’s worth forty-five bucks or not is open to debate, for sure. I always use stainless screws for that; but I know that I run the risk of breaking the aluminum gear instead, if I mis-handle the motor.

                Long live American manufacturing!

Cool replacement for sure….Not only are the new OEM ones priced out of this world, they are ugly red plastic….

Right, but the casting might. I’d rather replace the plastic one again.

Thanks. I am going to try them as well. Now, what else to order from Mcmaster!
